Footy Tipping FAQ for Pub+

  • The Competition is open to Australian residents (excluding ACT) aged 18 years and over with some exclusions as listed in the T&Cs.

  • You can register from 15 January 2026.

  • You will be able to set your tips for Opening Round and Round 1 for AFL and NRL code leagues respectively from 19 February 2026

  • Tipping closes 11:59pm AEST on 29/8/26 for AFL and at 11:59pm AEST on 6/9/26 for NRL

  • The pub+ national league, entered by default when signing up, is free.

    Optionally, you may choose to join up to two venue leagues. Some venue leagues include a paid entry free of $25, $50 or $100. The entry fee is later awarded as a part of the winner prize pool.

    All private leagues created or joined are free.

  • Paid venue leagues can be joined up until 11:59pm AEST 22/03/2026 for AFL and 11:59pm AEST 15/03/2026 for NRL.

    Free leagues can be joined throughout the season.

  • Tippers can join up to two venue leagues and unlimited private leagues.

  • Sign up to join pub+ footy tipping competition then;

    1. Select ‘Add a league’

    2. Select ‘Create a private league’

    3. Enter the name of your private league

    4. Select ‘Create’

    5. Share your unique private league code with friends for them to join.

  • No, there’s no major prizes for private leagues. 

    Private leagues may earn weekly rewards at select local venues. Available prizes can be viewed here.

  • The limit does not exist. All your friends can join.

  • No. Tips only need to be set once and then are automatically applied to all leagues that you’re participating in.

  • To be eligible for weekly rewards such as a tipping bonus, tips must be entered before the first game of a round commences.

    Tips can be entered late, with the away team and a margin of 0 is awarded for any games commenced or missed.


  • For every correct game result prediction you earn one point.

    Correct winner = 1 point 
    Incorrect winner = 0 points
    Correct draw = 1 point 
    Cancelled/Abandoned game = 0 points 

    Margin Score =  Actual Margin - Prediction Margin

    EG: 90 - 24 = 66 margin score

  • The margin is the amount by which the game is won.

    For the first game within each round, tippers are required to predict the match’s margin. 

    Your margin total for each game is the distance between the predicted margin and the actual margin. 

    If you forget to submit your prediction for the first game within a round, then you will be awarded a margin prediction of 0.

  • Your ranking is determined by points accrued throughout the season for tipping correctly, the margin will influence whether you sit below or above another tipper on the same number of points.

  • You can edit your tips before the relevant game starts. However, once a game begins your tip is locked in and cannot be changed for that game. Missed games will default to the away team selected.

  • Major prizes are $50,000 per code. 

    Minor and weekly prizes vary by venue. Check the bottom of the T&Cs page here to see which prizes are available in your state.

    Minor and weekly prizes earned will be automatically awarded to your pub+ wallet.

  • Minor and weekly prizes will be awarded to your pub+ wallet. You can redeem a reward via the pub+ app.

    The specific process will vary by offer.

    For most, you will need to scan the reward barcode in your pub+ wallet with an eligible purchase for the offer to be applied. 

    For Activation deals, you must activate the offer before attempting to use on a purchase. Once activated, the reward will be applied to eligible purchase when you scan your pub+ card in the same transaction. 

    Be sure to check the details on each offer in the pub+ app. This will clarify if any extra steps are needed to unlock the offer.


  • At the end of the proper season for both codes (AFL and NRL), all eligible major prize winners will be listed on the pub+ website at pubplus.com.au/footy-tipping
